Mayer Hawthorne – The Walk

Let’s talk about a brand new single that I haven’t been able to turn off since I heard it at the beginning of last week. As a part of Mayer Hawthorne’s #MayerMondays, the Ann Arbor, Michigan native announced the release of The Walk, the latest single off his upcoming album How Do You Do.

While A Long Time, the first single off Hawthorne’s new album caught my interest, it didn’t exactly leave me holding my breath for the October 11th album release date. The Walk however is an infectious Motown-styled track that talks about Hawthorne’s relationship frustrations that most people can relate to.

Additionally, for those of you who missed the video for A Long Time and might enjoy some old school 80s dance show footage, check it out below.

THE BONUS TRACK: I remember driving to Key West Florida with my parents many years ago listening to Tommy James and The Shondells classic, Crystal Blue Persuasion. With a similar beat to Hawthorne’s The Walk, the classic 1969 track was the first thing I thought of after listening hearing the new single. Although Crystal Blue Persuasion is far from Motown in style, I think the two tracks go together quite nicely. Why don’t you take a listen for yourself and let me know what you think?
